Admit a Patient to IPD

The IPD (Inpatient Department) workflow in LinkedCare begins when a doctor decides to admit a patient during an OPD consultation. Once the patient is admitted, the patient is moved to the IPD module for further treatment and management.

Step 1: Start the Consultation

Log in as a Doctor and start the patient's consultation from the Appointments section.

Step 2: Change the Disposition Type

During the consultation, change the Disposition Type to Admit Patient.

Complete the consultation and save the changes.

Step 3: Open the IPD Module

After the consultation is completed, open the IPD module.

The patient will now appear under the To Admit section.

Note: Both the Doctor and the Assistant can continue the admission process from this stage.

Step 4: Open the Patient Record

Click on the patient listed in the To Admit section.

The admission window will open.

Step 5: Select Ward and Bed

Choose the appropriate:

  • Ward
  • Bed

Ensure that the selected bed is available before proceeding.

Step 6: Admit the Patient

After selecting the ward and bed, click the Admit button.

The patient will be successfully admitted and moved from the To Admit section to the Admitted section of the IPD module.

Success! The patient has now been admitted to IPD and further inpatient activities such as treatment, nursing notes, investigations, medication, billing, and discharge can be managed from the IPD module.

Troubleshooting

Patient is not visible in the "To Admit" section

  • Verify that the consultation has been completed.
  • Ensure the Disposition Type was set to Admit Patient.
  • Refresh the IPD page and check again.

Unable to Admit the Patient

  • Ensure a ward has been selected.
  • Ensure an available bed has been selected.
  • Verify that all mandatory admission details have been completed.

No Beds Available

  • Select another ward with available beds.
  • If no beds are available, contact the hospital administrator to update bed availability.

Helpful Tips

  • Always verify the selected ward and bed before confirming the admission.
  • Only patients with the Admit Patient disposition will appear in the To Admit section.
  • Both doctors and assigned assistants can complete the admission process.
  • After admission, all inpatient activities can be managed from the Admitted section.
